My first name is Lynne and my middle name is Ann. My mother fell in love with the name Lynne and she made sure she added an “e” so people would know I was a girl (back then, some men were named Lynn, like Lynn Swan, the football player). My mom told me that she knew a really smart woman named Lynn and a really beautiful woman named Ann, so she went with both.
I adored this explanation. She hoped to confer both qualities onto her new daughter. It didn’t quite work LOL. I am fairly smart but not beautiful, just kind of attractive. But I loved the idea of that.
It turns out that Lynne is an old Celtic name, but my mother had no idea she was Scottish and Irish at the time. She thought she was just German. My Dad thought he was German and English. But my Ancestry DNA results confirm that I am close to 40% Scottish. Furthermore, one of the surnames on my Dad’s side — Duff — was really the Scottish name MacDuff, and it’s a town by the sea.
Later, when I researched my names, I really liked them even better. Lynne is an old Celtic name for body of water (or family living near a body of water, since it is actually a surname).

Ann means “Beloved of God.”
So like basically this means …I am Holy Water. HAHAHAHAHAHAHa.
