We are not separate, we are one Human Race

Are you afraid of your neighbor?

Don’t trust strangers in the grocery store? Think the worst of people you bump into on the street?

Guess what? You have probably been watching too much TV news.

Modern media corporations operate by shocking you, making you afraid, or worse. Even the weather has been a fearful thing lately. News shows make money as long as you are “entertained,” or feeling strong emotions like fear.

If you watch the evening news with a discerning eye, you realize that the news subjects are presented in a fearful, serious tone, with an implication that this could affect *you* and you need to be careful. They give you way too many things to worry about! And for some people, it puts them into a state of anxiety and worry far too much of the time.

It’s easy to come away with the feeling that the “world is going crazy.”

This is a dangerous mindset to have. Especially when it’s not true. There are many many things happening all over the world that are good, positive, and where people are cooperating with each other. But that is not exciting and won’t get ratings and viewers, so it’s not reported. We are literally shown the exceptions every night on the news, the “newsworthy” items.
