I would say maybe in a perfect equal world, you would be correct. But given our reality, where men really can do almost anything they want (the good ones don't but they could), women can need protection. And it doesn't matter if you accept it, because you are not out there living in the world as a woman, I have for many years and when I was younger and unmarried, it was at times nightmarish.
